Olympic Glory still on track for Vintage Stakes at Glorious Goodwood

Royal Ascot runner-up Olympic Glory is still being aimed at Glorious Goodwood's Vintage Stakes after taking the 32Red.com Superlative Stakes at Newmarket.

Richard Hannon’s two-year-old was the 6-4 favourite after his close finish behind Dawn Approach in the Coventry Stakes at Ascot and was ridden superbly by Richard Hughes.

Unbeaten Maxentius moved to the front two out but Olympic Glory’s charge was well-timed to hold off the late threat of Birdman.

Assistant trainer Richard Hannon junior told the Press Association: “He only just got the seven (furlongs) there, but it was a good effort and you have to say that the Coventry form looks strong.

“I suppose you’d have to start thinking about the Dewhurst with him now and maybe the race at Goodwood King Torus won a couple of years ago (the Vintage Stakes).”

Olympic Glory won at Goodwood last montyh, prompting Hughes to predict then that the Vintage Stakes could be perfect for him at the festival.
