Alex Danson will be Westgate Leisure Centre next month.

Double Olympic gold medallist Rebecca Adlington and Rio golden girl Alex Danson will be at Chichester for the grand opening on November, 5.

Everyone Active are opening the doors to the public with an event that will run from 10am through till 4pm on the day.

The centre has recently undergone a £1.5million improvement, which includes a significantly extended gym area, new hot yoga, group cycling studios, upgraded café and reception areas.

As well as testing out the new facilities, guests will also get the chance to shoot and score past Team GB hockey gold medallist Danson.

The hockey talent, who is a graduate from the University of Chichester, feels facilities of this standard will only benefit the community and said: “Our GB Hockey team vision was to ‘be the difference, create history and inspire the future.’ High quality facilities like this one are all about inspiring the future and I hope as many local people as possible come and make the most of it.”

Visitors will also be able to quiz both Adlington and Danson with a Q & A to take place from 10am until 10.30am.

The improvements have come at a time when both Everyone Active and Chichester District Council have joined forces.

Active’s Chichester contract manager Stuart Mills believes exciting times are ahead for the leisure centre.

He said: ““We are looking forward to unveiling the fantastic new facilities to the community. Everyone Active is passionate about getting more people active, and the centre is now far better equipped to meet the needs of local people and encourage them to improve their health and well-being.

“The open event will be a brilliant day for all the family, and having Rebecca and Alex with us gives people a fantastic opportunity to get inspiration from world-class Olympic level athletes.”
