Oliver Signy and Gavin Sheehan got the afternoon off to a perfect start for favourite-backers, as Sambezi held off his closest challenger to win the Visit attheraces.com Maiden Hurdle by ¾ of a length as the 9/4 favourite.

Reallyradical’s 7½-length success in the Bigmore Will Writing And Estate Planning Handicap Chase went to two names synonymous with victory at the track, with Chris Gordon and Jamie Moore teaming up with the 7/2-shot.

The 100/30-chance Brown Bullet handed trainer Andy Irvine a length-and-a-half victory in the Weatherbys nhstallions.co.uk Mares’ Handicap Hurdle – with Page Fuller doing the steering.

The Follow At The Races On Twitter Novices’ Handicap Hurdle went the way of 9/4 fav Sienna Royale, who stayed on strongly after the last to score by 3½ lengths - under Paul O’Brien, for Jeremy Scott.

Last to taste victory on the day were Nick Mitchell and Jordan Nailor, who paired up to get Coal Stock home by 4¾ lengths in the Watch Free Race Replays On attheraces.com Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle – the biggest priced winner of the afternoon, at 12/1.

The next meeting at the West Sussex track takes place behind closed doors next Monday, March 29.
