The split grade competition was open to all clubs and was held at Worthing Leisure Centre, attracting more than 150 competitors.

Sam was in a group of four contestants of a similar weight in the red belt grade section.

Sam won all three of his contests with Ippon wins from groundwork pinning his opponents for the maximum 20 seconds.

Also attending was nine-year-old Willow Moss who was in the yellow belt grade section but was up against 12-year-old players who were much taller.

Even so she was not daunted and put up a good fight bringing home a bronze medal.

The club would very much welcome new members and caters for all age and ability ranging from four to 40+.
