Pony Club horse trials over testing course

GOODWOOD Pony Club has thanked the Duke and Duchess of Richmond and Gordon for allowing them to hold their Open Hunter Trial on the Goodwood Estate. The event, which included qualifiers for the Autumn Finals of the BHS Cross Country Championships 2007 to be held in Derbyshire, attracted excellent entries for the Novice and Intermediate classes.

Both courses, judged on optimum time, included some challenging fences - the infamous 'Goodwood House', a ditch and jumping into water. The terrain is also challenging to horses less fit with a fair climb up the first hill and a steeper climb after the water. The last fence, a solid table, also caused a few problems; solid, up to height and downhill.

The club had a number of successful entries with Lucy Dobbs (Smartie Pants) taking winning the Novice for Pony Club members. Emma Taylor (Aidn VII) was second, Sophie Forsyth ( Mystic)in third and Martha Taylor (Blue) and Sarah Hill (Woodside)in fourth and fifth.

Other club winners included Jane Boxall (Monty) winner of the Open Novice, Camilla Lewis (Tropical Dawn) winner of the Intermediate for PC and Clara Jollands (Old Blue Eyes) winner of the Open Intermediate.
