Ringmer steal the points

WHEN you are down at the bottom, things rarely go your way and that was again the case for Littlehampton FC on Saturday.

With the game scoreless and in injury-time, Ringmer, now managed by former Arundel boss Steve Johnson, got the winning goal with unintentional help from referee Andrew Massey.

Ringmer had forced a corner which Ollie Rowland blasted clear, only for it to hit Mr Massey in the leg, rebound to Ringmer's Aaron MacMillan six yards out, and he stroked the ball past Golds' keeper Jonathan Hendricks.

Littlehampton manager Trevor Waller said: "The referee was standing in the D outside the penalty area and the ball hit him and fell to their guy who scored. If it had been one of their players who passed it to him, he would have been in an offside position."
