The road to Lord's starts in Sussex for umpires

The MCC have agreed a number of changes to the laws of cricket which will be applicable to cricket matches played this summer.

These changes and other laws of the game will be explained at a course to be run at Arundel Castle Cricket Club pavilion on two Sundays, February 6 and February 13.

With the game of cricket continuing to flourish in Sussex there is a need to train more umpires to ensure games are played within the laws.

Umpires have the best viewing point to watch a game observing all the action in the middle rather from the distant boundary.

The course is the first step in a career that can lead, if you have the wish to progress, to umpiring on the hallowed turf at Lord’s.

The game also needs scorers to accurately record all the runs and wickets and to produce lots of statistics for players and coaches.

If you have an interest in cricket, why not consider being involved with the game at all times by becoming either an umpire or a scorer?
