Lavant House take tag rugby honours at Chichester High School for Girls

Chichester High School for Girls held the annual girls' key stage three tag rugby tournament supported by the West Sussex West school sports partnership.

Schools taking part this year were Westergate, Lavant House, The Regis and Chichester High School for Girls.

The girls showed a great attitude and displayed some exciting rugby, with Lavant House just edging out Chichester High School for Girls in the final.

The game was fast-paced and evenly-matched.

With the score at 3-3 at half-time, the girls went back out determined to win the shield.

With some excellent tries scored, Lavant won 6-5 with the winning try scored in the final ten seconds by Victoria Voller.

Full credit must go to all the teams who took part and to the teachers involved as this was the highest standard of rugby seen at this event, now in its third year.

Jessica Breach from Lavant House was named player of the tournament for her outstanding footwork and tactical knowledge.

The event was supported by RFU community rugby coach Kate Smith, West Sussex West partnership development manager, and the RFUW.

A spokeswoman for Lavant House said: “Well done girls – this was an excellent win achieved from your determination and commitment within training.”
