Midhurst pick up RFU award

MIDHURST Rugby Club's fine start to the season has been bolstered by news from the RFU of a prestigious award.

The club has achieved a lot already this season, with the first XV riding high in the Sussex Intermediate League, coupled with a fifth round place in the RFU Junior Vase.

While further good news has been delivered by the sport’s governing body that the club has been awarded the Mini and Junior Seal of Approval - an award which represents the culmination of a number of years work by the club to attain the highest levels of safety, organisation and management.

The award was formally conferred at the start of December by Graham Thompson, the Sussex Representative of the RFU, who visited the club to present certificates to Peter Campbell and John Whitby, the Midhurst RFC President.

Whitby was effusive in his praise for all those who had contributed towards the club achieving this landmark, and said: “The presentation of this prestigious award demonstrates that Midhurst RFC is providing its young people with a safe, well organized and enjoyable environment in which to learn and play rugby.”

Midhurst secretary Simon Flint added: “We are a small community club with big ambitions made possible by an army of enthusiastic volunteers. We are all very grateful to Peter Campbell for his dedication in getting us this prestigious award.”
