Prior latest: Eastleigh withdraw offer for Rocks striker

EASTLEIGH have withdrawn their offer for Jason Prior.

It comes a day after Newcastle invited the striker to a trial.

The Nyewood Lane favourite was set to move to the Conference South side in a £12,500 deal but the club’s director of football has said they have now ended their interest.

Yesterday they claimed Bognor were guilty of breach of contract - but they appear to have dropped that claim now.

A statement on the Eastleigh forum said: “We have today spoken with Bognor in respect of Jason Prior, and withdrawn our offer for the player.

“It is a FACT that we had a confirmed agreement with Bognor to sign the player on January 3rd 2012. Both Clubs have come to agreement in respect of this matter, no further action will be taken by either Club.

“Eastleigh Football Club has acted with complete propriety throughout this entire episode, and entirely within FA rules. No further official comment will be made.”

It is understood Prior will head to the north-east early next week. He has already attracted interest from a number of League One and League Two clubs.
