ROCKS REVIEW: Killpartrick is refreshed and ready to try again

DARIN KILLPARTRICK has had a short break from the rigours of the Rocks '“ and now can't wait to get stuck into another bid for success.

The joint boss is already starting to plan the club’s pre-season training programme as well as working on player targets who they want to bring in to strengthen the squad.

Killpartrick (left) remains hopeful most of last season’s squad will be back for another Ryman one south promotion bid.

“I’ve had a little break from it – I think you need that sometimes.

“The sort of end we had to the season can dent you and you have to repair the dent and get back on track,” he said.

“We’re only really about a month away from starting pre-season. We won’t be doing things much differently from last year but one or two factors may change.

“Last season we got our hunger back and put the club back on the map. But there’s always a few pieces of the puzzle you can add to move forward.

“We’ll be making one or two calls about players but there are no new signings yet.”

Killpartrick said it would be a blow to lose Ben Johnson if his pre-season with League Two side Dagenham & Redbridge worked out for him, but he wished him well.

And he said he was desperately hoping top scorer Jason Prior would stay: “We’re thrilled to pieces with the season he had but we would love to keep hold of him for another year.”

Killpartrick is pleased with the list of friendlies lined up so far – which include games against the two sides promoted from their league, the Met Police and Leatherhead.

He added: “We know how we want to continue to play next season and pre-season will be about fine-tuning things. We’re all looking forward to it.”
