ROCKS REVIEW: Rocks head for Merstham hoping for more of the same

The Rocks look to keep up their excellent start to 2011 when they go to Merstham in Ryman one south on Tuesday night.

Saturday’s 5-0 hammering of Fleet made it four wins from four league games so far this year, which has put them right in the promotion mixer.

Merstham stole a 3-3 draw with a late equaliser at Nyewood Lane in September and joint manager Jamie Howell expects another tough task - provided the wet weather allows the game to go ahead.

“They were very strong when they came to us and are having a good season,” Howell said.

“What Saturday’s results showed - with Met Police losing at Horsham YMCA among others - is that anyone can beat anyone else in this league, so we have to be on our guard.”

The Rocks are still without midfielder James Fraser, but the good news is he is expected to be fit for Saturday’s visit to Whyteleafe.

Luke Nightingale has been suffering with tight hamstrings but should be okay to partner Saturday’s hat-trick hero Jason Prior up front tonight.

Stuart Axten was fit to take up his centre-half’s role against Fleet, which has meant a switch to right-back for Pompey loanee Perry Ryan.
