Twickenham trip is a triumph for Chichester lads

Chichester RFC's under-12s travelled to the Twickenham Stoop to take part in the Etihad Airways Curtain Raiser Cup.

Chichester opened the proceedings with a game against New Milton and in a close game Chichester capitalised on their dominance, going two tries to nil up thanks to great work from the forwards and backs allowing Martin and Hoolahan to score.

With only a few minutes left, New Milton scored their only try.

Their second game was against a strong Minety RFC who were very impressive in the scrums. Chichester absorbed the pressure and scored three tries to none with some fantastic flowing rugby – McCall, Owers and Watts finishing with aplomb.

The second round brought games against the same teams. Chichester drew 1-1 with New Milton before finishing with a 2-0 victory over Minety, with Wale and Watts touching down. Winning the group means Chichester progress to March’s semi-finals.

To finish a great day, the squad stayed on to watch Harlequins beat Gloucester in the Heineken Cup.
