Scores don't matter as Sussex bowlers remember stalwart Gary

When bowler Gary Jacobs passed away last year, such was his personality and stature within the Sussex bowling scene that many of his friends and bowling colleagues decided to hold an annual event in his memory.

Lenny Corne and the president of the London Transport Bowling Association, Brian Jones, joined forces to provide a memorial trophy and drinks.

Gary played bowls for both teams as well as Arun IBC, where the game took place.

His widow Sandra presented the trophy to London Transport after they won by 20 shots, and handed over the engraved commemorative glasses to the top rinks from both teams.

The scores didn’t really matter – remembering Gary was the important thing and the fixture will continue to be played in years to come.
