Sidley celebrate rare victory

SIDLEY recorded only their second win of the season in Division Two of the Sussex Cricket League with a four wicket defeat of Lewes Priory.

Lewes were dismissed for 212 with Michael Murray batting all bar four overs to make 70 while John Farrow weighed in with 38. For the visitors, Peter King took 4-40 and Rizwan Ahmed 3-58.

Rizwan then smashed 98 as Sidley finished on 214-6, with King adding an undefeated 33.

The maximum 30 points haul lifted Sidley off the foot of the table by three points from Pulborough.

Bexhill's poor run continued as they crashed to a six wicket defeat at the hands of Stirlands.

The visitors never got going with the bat and were all out for 118. Simon Bulteel (31 not out) was top scorer as Danny Cox returned figures of 5-36 and Adam Dowling, on his club debut, took 2-5. The cultured batting of Richard Thelwell (64) saw Stirlands home despite the efforts of Chris Topp (2-24).
