The Staplecross-based professional came tied 29th in the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters with a four-under-par 72-hole total of 281 at Doha GC.

Evans began with a very good three-under-par 69 last Wednesday featuring four birdies and a solitary bogey. He followed that with a one-under-par second round 71, recovering from being two-over for his first eight holes with three birdies and no blemishes in his last eight.

The 29-year-old lost a bit of ground with a two-over-par third round 74. Four birdies were offset by six bogeys, four of which came in the space of five holes from the third.

Evans closed with a splendid two-under-par 70 in a windy final round yesterday (Saturday). He birdied the par five first hole for the third day running and despite dropping shots at the 10th and 14th, finished with three birdies in the last four holes, including the short par four 16th for the third day in a row and the par five 18th for the fourth consecutive round.

It was Evans’ highest finish of the 2016 season so far having made the cut in four of his first five events. He moves up to 67th in the early stages of the season-long Race to Dubai rankings ahead of the Omega Dubai Desert Classic, which starts on Thursday.
