Southdown's young cyclists on track for glory

Chichester's youth cyclists riding for Southdown Velo-Geared Bikes continue to make their presence felt in races in the south.

Thruxton was the venue for a round of the Wessex Cyclo-cross League.

A twisty and slippery course on the edge of a large grass bank proved no challenge to Southdown Velo’s team of Harry Dridge, Erin and Alderney Baker in the under-12 race.

The trio are among a number of the club’s riders who recently received expert training from former national champion Jody Crawforth.

They were able to put practice to good use which resulted in the first win of the year for Dridge.

Alderney and Erin finished seventh and 14th to make it an excellent day for the club.

Dridge’s winning ride enabled him to extend his lead in the series competition with seven out of the 12 races completed.
