Sussex pair Hills and Dutton find form in BDO open

Local darts players had a successful weekend at the BDO International Open.

Chichester’s Andy Hills and Graeme Dutton from Bognor teamed up with Lincolnshire ace Paula Jacklin in the mixed triples.

After reaching the last 16, they lost out in a close match against professional players Steve Buntin, Anastasia Dobromyslova and a partner.

Dutton continued his good form in the pairs with his partner, eliminating the world-ranked No1 Dean Winstanley and partner to reach the last 32. Their run ended there in an epic match decided in the final leg.

Hills’ run in the singles ended when household legend Peter Evison showed the form he was once known for. Hills levelled the match at 2-2, sitting on 40 to win, but Evison took a 155 shot-out.

Chi Snooker Club 2 Wheatsheaf 12; Hunston 9 Eastgate 5; The Railway 5 Claremont A 9. 180s: Harry Annals, Gary Blackwood (2).

Week seven of the Bognor Star darts could not have started and ended so close, with one point just dividing the Richmond Arms A and the Wheatsheaf at the top of both the pairs and the singles leagues, and both level in the Captains’ Cup.

Gary Blackwood leads the averages with an impressive 18 wins out of 18, but despite two 180s he was unable to maintain the record, losing 2–1 to The Railway’s Mickey Rowling.
