Goodwood begins a new season of flat racing on Saturday with what is shaping up to be a high-quality seven-race card.
The listed Daisy Warwick Stakes is the highlight and has a field of 13.
Entries include last year’s winner – the Dennis Coakley-trained Miss Marjurie, who Shane Kelly rode to a 10/1 win in the 2015 renewal.
It is one of two listed races for fillies and mares, the other being the Betfred “1400 Shops Nationwide” EBF Conqueror Stakes at 4pm.
The Daisy Warwick Stakes will be shown live on Channel 4 on a day when Goodwood bosses will also have an eye on the Guineas meeting at Newmarket, when traditionally some of the year’s flat stars are making a name themselves ahead of a visit to Glorious Goodwood later in the season.
The whole Goodwood card, which runs from 1.45pm to 5.10pm, is sponsored by Betfred amd has 75 declared runners in total.

An artisan food market is being staged alongside racing. A marketplace overlooking the racecousecourse and accessible from all enclosures will offer race-goers the chance to try everything from chocolate to Sussex lamb.
Stalls within will host award-winners such as JK Fine Chocolate, Beehive Brae, creators of fine beers and meads, and Radnor Preserves, judged as one of the best artisan marmalade makers in the world.
Further delights can be found at the stalls of All About Tea, Auberge du Chocolat, Burley Fudge, Chalk Stream, Cheesemakers of Canterbury, Chilgrove Spirits, Chocolate Genie, Hurly Burly, Moore Design, Olives Direct, Organic Soil Association, Planbee Honey, Sussex Lamb, The Sussex Kitchen, Thunder Toffee, Tispy Wight, Wiston Winery and more.
Goodwood’s own organic Home Farm will feature on the East Parade Lawn, with 2015 Farmer’s Weekly Farm Manager of the Year Tim Hassell talking guests through all the produce. Goodwood chefs from across the estate’s venues will demonstrate how to get the best out of beef, pork and lamb.
Younger race-goers will be treated to three story-telling sessions in the afternoon and can participate in gingerbread-making.
Opening Saturday will also be racegoers’ first chance to experience what new catering partner rhubarb has to offer and their premium food experience team will be showcasing their hospitality offerings on the East Parade Lawn.
