Townsmen next club to embrace the LGL

WORTHING BC will next summer become the next Stracey Shield club to join the Littlehampton Gazette League and partake in a parallel bowls competition. They will follow the path of Pavilion, Tarring Priory, Field Place and West Tarring.

East Preston, Tarring Priory and Norfolk will begin entering a second team and Pavilion have enquired about entering a third, having this season been the first to enter a second. This will create a formation of eight teams in all three divisions.

Competitive bowls is beginning to absorb players previously content to play friendlies in a way similar to that which cricket has done. Maltravers of Littlehampton are experiencing this and their runners-up spot in the inaugural Division 3 is their first honour in the 21 years of the Littlehampton Gazette League.
