The juniors ranged in age from eight to 16s, Freddie Martyn being the youngest at eight and competing in his first event.

The shortest race, for the youngest competitors, comprised a 400m run, 1,500m bike ride and a 200m run.

The longest race, for the adults, was a 4k run, 40k bike race and 8k run.

Lin Roberts, one of the juniors’ coaches, ran and cycled her way to second prize in her category – showing her current Ironman training must be paying off.
