THE Three Moles pub at Selham hosts its sloe gin competition on Sunday, February 5, following a successful inaugural event last year.
Entrants are required to take along their concoctions and register in time by the midday deadline.
The judges, who are Jo Oomen, co-owner of the SuJoCo cookery school at Lodsworth, Simon Goodman, award-winning chef at the Duke of Cumberland pub at Henley, near Fernhurst, and hopefully last year’s winner, Christopher Wigdor, will taste all the gins blind and reduce the number of entries in a series of knockout rounds until the top three are decided.
Kevin Wells organises the event with Sylvia and Paul Tadhunter, who run the Three Moles. Next year he hopes to spread the net wider to include any edible or drinkable concoction made with or from sloes, be it gin, vodka or whisky, jams, jellies or trifles.
