A PETWORTH group which supports Chestnut Tree Children’s Hospice is appealing for donations of gifts and goodies for a fund-raising coffee morning later this month.
Tombola and raffle prizes, items for a silent auction, cakes, bric-a-brac, books, and gifts for a gift stall are all needed to help the event, on Saturday, March 24, go with a swing.
It will be held at the United Reformed Church Hall in Golden Square, Petworth, from 9.30am to midday.
Joan Chatwood, one of the organisers, said: “This is our third joint event.
“Previously we were a small group who became Friends of the Chestnut Tree Children’s Hospice but have joined it with St Wilfrid’s as, of course, since the closure of King Edward VII Hospital at Midhurst, we are able to use this hospice.
“Neither of these hospices receives much money from the government so they rely on charitable donations and people like ourselves raising money whenever we can.”
Anyone wishing to give items for the event should call Mrs Chatwood on 01798 343893.
Donations to the hospices can be made via Friends’ treasurer Jackie Smith on 01798 342676. Co-op Stores, which has a shop in Petworth, has made Chestnut Tree its charity for 2012.
